I think they will push for its removal early since they mentioned it's blocker for signal components, in Twitter Minko mentioned they plan to release it in v17 and if they couldn't it for technical reasons they won't wait for v18, they will do it in v17.1 or v17.2, which again reveal they want it out ASAP

but you are right, it will take time till all companies upgrade to newer versions of Angular
